
| Sunday, August 5 was a wonderful day in the life of Trinity
Church. Bishop Larry Benfield's first official visit to Trinity
was filled with numerous activities. One service was planned, at 9:30am
and the attendance was considerable. First on the agenda was the confirmation of two new Episcopalians, Ms. Dawn Wheeler from Trinity and Jennifer Roberts from St. Mary's, in Monticello. A number of families made the trek from Monticello in Jennifer's support. Bishop Benfield served as officiant, delivered the homily and confirmed the candidates. Music was provided by an enhanced Trinity Chancel Choir, including additional voices, typani, trumpet and flutes. The musical arrangements were masterfully conducted by Choirmaster Faron Wilson. Following the service, everyone was invited to the Trinity Parish Hall were they were treated to a wonderful buffet brunch prepared and served by Chef Orben McLemore and his staff. Bishop Benfield fielded questions from the assembly, focusing on his vision for the Diocese of Arkansas, with special attention on his views for the future of the Delta churches, College Ministry, Camp Mitchell, and the Anglican Communion in general. The morning concluded with Fr. Van and Harra Windsor renewing their marriage vows with Bishop Benfield performing the ceremony. After 11 years of marriage, Fr. Van comment that "not everyone can have their kids present at their wedding". |
