Teach us good Lord to serve thee as thou deservest, In addition to the Rector, the church staff is composed of a Parish Secretary, an Organist and Choirmaster, Pastoral Assistant, a Custodian and a Groundskeeper. A fifteen-member vestry elected at the annual parish meeting leads the church. Each member is elected for a three-year term. In addition to the administration of the parish, two vestry members are appointed to serve on the board of the Trinity Episcopal School. The Senior Warden oversees all aspects of vestry activity while the Junior Warden is responsible for issues relating to the physical plant. Altar Guild Members of the Altar Guild offer a ministry for trained and dedicated parishioners to prepare the church alter for all Church services and to care for the sacred vessels, vestments, linens, flowers and other altar appointments. Ushers Since ushering provides initial communication from the church to those attending services, a warm and friendly greeting is important. Duties include seating worshippers, distributing service sheets, collecting the offering, replacing hymnals and prayer books in the pews, and straightening up the church following each service. The Chancel Choir led by a part-time Director of Music, provides extensive musical leadership at the 10:30 service, as well as music for the Christmas Eve, Holy Week, and Easter services. A Brass Quartet provides music for the Christmas Eve and Easter Day services. Lay Readers and Lay Eucharistic Ministers Our lay readers dispense the chalice as well as read the lessons. Candidates are selected by the Rector and go through a series of training classes before being commissioned to serve. Lay Eucharistic Ministers take the Eucharist to those persons who are homebound or hospitalized or shut in. Acolytes The Rector and Acolyte Master train boys and girls, age nine and older, to serve as acolytes and crucifers. Objectives of the program are two-fold: to learn to serve as a Christian at the altar through active participation in the services and to foster a sense of responsibility. Episcopal Church Women (ECW) All women in the Church are members of the ECW. The two-fold purpose of the ECW is fellowship and outreach. The ECW is dedicated to working and contributing both in the parish and community as well as in the Diocese. They provide financial assistance to the Robert R. Brown Camp, contributions to Neighbor-to-Neighbor, and provide funds to missionaries to support their outreach activities. Men's Club The Men's Club's primary project is the Shrove Tuesday Pancake supper every year, held in conjunction with Grace Episcopal Church. Proceeds are used for scholarships to Camp Mitchell as well as other parish and/or diocesan needs. Good Samaritans Good Samaritans provide food to parishioners when there is a death or illness in the family. Those that work in this ministry feel that it provides in a tangible way to express love and concern we as a parish family feel for each other. The members are assigned to specific months to assist parish families in need. The Good Samaritans are self-supporting, accepting donations with members giving both their time and money. Neighbor-to-Neighbor Evolving from an emergency food pantry called the Lord's Larder, Neighbor-to-Neighbor was formed in 1978 by members of the Trinity Episcopal in conjunction with the First Baptist Church and Catholic Social Services into a community food bank and assistance center for the needy. This operation has now evolved into a community affair supported by the United Way and several more churches. Trinity contributes regularly to the food pantry as well, participating in special projects during the year. Trinity Social and Fellowship Committee Trinity Social and Fellowship Committee is responsible for helping to bring in new members to Trinity and sponsors activities such as the pot luck and hospitality events. The committee is currently reevaluating its mission and focusing on outreach efforts in promoting the Gospel of Jesus Christ within the Church and community. Greeters The Greeters Committee serve to welcome both parishioners and guests at the 8:00 and 10:30am services. Stewardship Committee Trinity Parish encourages people to practice stewardship of their time, talent and money. We believe that 'all things come of Thee, O Lord,' and that as steward's of God's gifts, we should return to Him a portion of what time, talent, and money He has given us. The Stewardship Committee is responsible for communicating the needs of the Church and Diocese to the parishioners and is charged with raising the personal awareness of stewardship through Bible worship and stewardship training. Guilds St. Mary's Guild was organized in the 1930's an evening guild in order to allow women who worked outside the home to attend. The guild currently meets the second Sunday of each month at 2:00 p.m. in various guild members' homes. Projects each year include a bake sale, paying a pledge to the diocese, contributing to Neighbor-to-Neighbor and to needy children during the Christmas season. St. Elizabeth's Guild meets the second Monday of each month, September through May. Meetings consist of lectures and discussions involving both Bible study and current events. The guild shares in all activities of the ECW. St. Anne's Guild provides spiritual fellowship and supports each other in a Christian atmosphere following the doctrine of the Episcopal Church. The guild meets the third Monday of each month. Christian Education At Trinity, it is our hope that all persons will find a living, learning and loving experience of Christ and the Church. The Christian Education Committee coordinates and supports both adult and children's educational activities in the parish. These activities include Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, youth worship services, teacher training and special educational activities. The Sunday school provides instruction for ages three through adult. There are also opportunities for service and fellowship through the Kids Days and Episcopal Youth Community activities. The Daughters of the King is an order for women and girls in the Anglican, Episcopal, Roman Catholic and Lutheran churches dedicated to prayer, service and evangelism for Christ's sake. |
