Columbarium

The Trinity Church columbarium is a sacred structure containing niches designed to hold urns with the cremated remains (cremains) of the departed. Our columbarium provides a peaceful, permanent resting place within the life of the parish community—honoring the Christian tradition of burial near the church while reflecting the growing preference for cremation.

Purpose and Setting

Our columbarium offers a quiet space for prayer, remembrance, and reflection. It is maintained as part of the church’s ongoing ministry of care for the living and the dead, grounded in the hope of the Resurrection. Families and friends may visit the site to pay respects in a setting that remains connected to the worshiping life of the parish.

Eligibility

Inurnment is typically available to:

  • Current and former parishioners of Trinity Episcopal Church
  • Their immediate family members (spouses/partners, parents, children, and in some cases grandchildren or other close relatives)
  • Clergy and staff who have served the parish

Specific eligibility rules and any exceptions are set by the Rector and Vestry. Please contact the church office for confirmation.

Niches and What Is Included

Each niche is designed to hold one or two urns. The purchase price generally covers:

  • The niche itself
  • The urn(s)
  • An engraved faceplate or plaque (name and dates)
  • Perpetual care and maintenance of the columbarium
  • Record-keeping by the parish

Exact costs, payment options, and available niche locations vary and should be confirmed with the church office. A map of available niches is typically provided upon inquiry.

Services and Arrangements

Funeral or memorial services may be held at Trinity according to parish guidelines, or elsewhere as preferred. The Committal of the ashes may take place at the columbarium following the service or at a later mutually convenient time. The Rector is available to assist families with planning, Scripture readings, hymns, and pastoral support.

How to Inquire or Reserve a Niche

For more information, current pricing, availability, or to begin the reservation process, please contact the church office.

A simple agreement is completed upon purchase, and the parish maintains permanent records of all inurnments.

The columbarium is one expression of Trinity’s commitment to walk with parishioners through every stage of life—and beyond—in the sure and certain hope of the Resurrection.
